Where these boundaries come from

These are the City Planning Department's Neighborhood Tabulation Areas, matched to buildings through the census tract the tax roll records for each lot. Parks, cemeteries, airports, rail yards and Rikers Island are NTAs too and are not listed here, because nobody lives in them. Neighborhoods with fewer than 250 residential buildings and fewer than 5,000 homes are left out as well.
